2. How can I make a donation to Islands of Peace?

Islands of Peace is a registered Belgian Charity. In Belgium, donations larger than 30€ are fiscally deductible. If you wish to make a donation, here is our bank account data :

You may also benefit from a fiscal deduction in your country of residence by sending your donations to your national foundation, member of the TGE (Transnational Giving Europe) (see addresses below). Your national foundation will then forward you donation to her Belgian Partner, the Fondation Roi Baudouin which will, in turn forward it to us.

According to the fiscal legislation of your country, your donation will benefit from the same fiscal advantages as national donations. Your national foundation will be in charge of all the fiscal formalities and will send you a fiscal attestation stating the details of your donation.

3. How can I get support from Islands of Peace?

Islands of Peace does not finance projects or programmes applied for by organisations from the South or the North. Within an area where we are active and present, we establish partnerships with local populations and institutions in which the financial aspect is secondary. These partnerships are built on a real day to day collaboration, common work led at both the technical and methodological levels.

If you think your region could benefit from this type of work, you may always raise our awareness of its potentials and problems by postal mail or by email to partenariat@ilesdepaix.org.

Islands of Peace is not able to pursue demands such as:

• Demands by individuals or association de fait strictly for financial or material assistance
• Scholarships and/or study related trips
• Demands by intermediary development NGOs, both from the North and the South
• Demands by other European associations, whatever might be the social objective.

4. What are the employment opportunities at Islands of Peace?

To the extent that we try to reinforce the capacities of the populations with whom we work, we tend to favour the mobilisation of local expertise, thus expatriate employment opportunities are relatively limited. On the other hand, we organise support missions, led from Belgium.

In the scope of these missions, we are interested in people with the following profile:

• Interest for missions of an average length (1-3 months)
• Confirmed professional experience of field missions: identification, feasibility, evaluation, technical intervention or methodological support missions.
• Specialisation in one of the following fields: agronomy, rural engineering, hydro-geology, water management, zoology, institutional reinforcement, local development, micro-credit, agro-industry, rural development, micro-credit, agro-industry, rural economy.

(The candidates must be fluent in French)
